PACT Group Banner

After choosing a name for our group we collaborated with a local arts initiative to develop a banner, proclaiming our name and our group values loud and clear. The core message featured in our banner is "Love + Empowerment = Breaking the Cycle".

The Heart of the Matter

- an art installation

PACT Art Installation

PACT Art Installation

An art installation conveying the experiences of parents based on child protection systems and the community being judgemental and adversarial versus non-judgemental and supportive.

Having a voice

Having a voice

This figure represents a parent feeling well supported. That is why this figure features a speech bubble, because this parent feels they have a voice.

Heart of the matter

Heart of the matter

At the centre of each figure is a radiating heart with children at the centre. This represents the love, connection and care that is ever present even during separation.

Supportive input

Supportive input

We named the speech bubbles at the edge of the figures "opinion bubbles" as they represent what the wider community, including the media, are saying to and about parents who are involved with child protection.

No voice

No voice

This figure has many thought bubbles, representing confusion and chaos, but no speech bubble as they feel they have no voice.

Opinions and labels

Opinions and labels

This figure is plagued by opinions and labels, such as "bad parent" and media headlines that promote judgement and punishment over understanding and empathy.

Finishing touches

Finishing touches

The final touches are made and this art installation is displayed at the Museum of Truth and Lies exhibition in Central Goldfields Shire and also displayed at the launch of the Family Inclusion Network Victoria Inc.
